"On The Verge"
Actresses taking their turn on the other side of the camera pay big dividends with two equally great but very different films on relationships. One is wickedly funny, the other dripping with emotion, but both are extremely well crafted and proof, as far as the filmmakers are considered, that some people can do it at all. The program is completed by two films as accomplished in their form as they are striking in their originality. While they may evoke comparisons to such masters as Svankmajer and Lynch respectively, they are distinctly original.
