“CHOKE” IN THEATERS THIS WEEKEND
Sep 25 | Author: Kelly Frey

CHOKE, a selection from the 2008 CineVegas Film Festival, opens in theaters across the country this weekend. The film stars Sam Rockwell (recipient of the 2008 CineVegas Half Life Award) as a sex-addicted med school dropout who keeps his increasingly deranged mother (played by Anjelica Huston, recipient of the 2008 CineVegas Marquee Award) in an expensive private medical hospital by working days as a historical reenactor at a Colonial Williamsburg theme park. At night, he runs a scam by deliberately choking in upscale restaurants to form parasitic relationships with the wealthy patrons who “save” him. The film is an adaptation of the book from novelist Chuck Palahniuk, who also wrote FIGHT CLUB. For more information, show times and to view the trailer, check out the film’s website.
