VEGAS IN VIDEO GAMES

If you didn’t catch the Festival this year, we presented the first ever Planet Illogica Award for New Media: Directing to Jenova Chen and Kellee Santiago, the duo behind the groundbreaking PlayStation Network game “Flower.” We’re not stopping there, however, and are developing the video game aspect of the Festival into a full blown initiative called “CineVegas Arcade” that will highlight independent designers and companies who push the boundaries of, what is essentially, interactive storytelling. With that in mind we will begin blogging about this world through our CineVegas prism and what better way to begin then highlighting the setting of Vegas in video games.

Just like film, the world of Sin City seems to be a boon for video game plots, so much so that even the next installation of popular RPG franchise “Fallout” will be set on the Strip with “Fallout: New Vegas.” Below is a collection of trailers that I could find online of Vegas-based video games and put in order from oldest to newest. Needless to say the graphics of the games get brighter and glossier the newer they get, just like the city itself.

This is Vegas looks amazing! I need to pre- order this today – is this the game to compete with GTA IV and V?? If the game lives up to the story line – this is a sure winner for Midway.
